I love the hook on this joint! The beat moves along nicely and it fits the vibe of Miss Jack Davey’s voice. Not sure if Mr. Brook D’Leau produced it or not, but I’m going to assume it is in-house since they are dropping a new mixtape called Boudoir Synema: The Great Mistape on Christmas Day. Love the title. Free music for everyone Christmas Day, so far from them and Lupe. Spotted at okayplayer. Their music is just different enough to be fresh but not that different that you can’t GET it, if the vibe is right.
La Roux is an English electro-pop outfit featuring the androgynous lead singer Eleanor Jackson and producer Ben Langmaid. Their music is a blend of instantly catchy hooks and pop/electro beats, with “I’m Not Your Toy” being the 3rd single from their debut album La Roux. I’m loving this song and it’s futuristic video, which basically features EVERYONE giving her and her backup dancers the side-eye until they all decide they like it and start dancing. How dope is that!?
And feast your eyes on all that Black people chocolate goodness! I was like, wow, she got more Black women in her video than the US singers have, minus Shakira and her “Stomp The Yard” choreography in “Give It Up To Me”. I like this a lot though!
