Because she is still milking “Single Ladies”.
Beyonce Launches $250,000 Dance Contest
After singing and dancing with host Hugh Jackman at the Oscars yesterday (Feb. 22), Beyonce is asking her fans to show off their moves. The singer has announced a “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” dance video contest which invites fans to create a video of their own dance routine for the song, which reached No 1. on the Hot 100. The winner will receive $250,000 and have their video shown during Beyonce’s 2009 “I Am…” world tour.
The “Single Ladies” dance video contest is open to residents of the United States, UK, Japan, and a few other territories who are 18 or older. Submissions are due by March 6, 2009. Visit beyonceonline.com for more information. (Source)
Chick has had a slew of singles, but the one that is still in the minds and radios of America is “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It). I remember when Beyonce’ would have 2-3 smash singles from an album. But on this latest opus of hers, I can honestly say I really don’t even listen to the rest of it aside from that song.
And comes word she’s shooting videos again for the whole album? It was novel and interesting the first time she did it, but now it just reeks of desperation. I’d RATHER her go back in the lab, cut some new songs and put out a retooled version, a la “Blueprint 2.0″.
For real Bee. Just…trim the fat (like “Ave Maria” seriously still WTF @ that) and hit us with some new heat you were saving for the Obsessed soundtrack. I am pretty sure I’m not the only who feels this last album was not your best most complete work.
This contest? Girl, bye. Just take the 50-11 videos off of YouTube!!

Beyonce is teetering on the edge here.
There comes a poitn in very successful people’s careers when they can do crazy stuff and people will support them just because. Beyonce hasn’t been in that stage long enough. She took a chance with I Am… but she needs to come on back home to what works and give her fanbase a reason to support this.
She’s talented and all that, but I wouldn’t be sad if she focused that energy on people who could deliver (some of her stuff) better than she.

man…aint nothing wrong with her singles.
that ain’t no worse than deja vu, irreplacable, naughty girl, and any other song she puts out after the lead single on her albums.
We are in a recession, and her behind is still getting work.
She do what need to be done to stay relevant and in the news. Can’t say the same for most artists these days. That’s y she still gone be on top.

when. will. she. sit. down?!?! soon and very soon, i hope.
i mean, really…she could’ve at least let the song be “diva,” which i actually hear on the radio, surprisingly. single ladies is hella played.

^ OBVIOUSLY this is meant to help her tour.
And “Diva” doesn’t have a full-out dance routine, which would make the contest more confusing if it were used (the submitters are not to make up their own dances).
Oh, and she says in the coming issue of Ebony that she will never retire. So… I don’t know what you’re going to do.
