    • Magazine Covers: Keyshia Cole Covers VIBE

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 31, 09

      Keyshia Cole Covers Vibe

This is actually a pretty dope cover. It looks like a cover from a more “artsier” magazine like Paper or Interview.

There’s been rumors floating around that Keyshia Cole got a nose job…I don’t pay enough attention to all that mess. That’s for the females to squabble about. All I know is that I hope she doesn’t even change the chesticles! That is one of Keyshia’s saving graces.

Remember all the brouhaha a couple of years ago when Mary J. Blige had that jacked up cover!? Hmm. I guess Manny and Keyshia wasn’t having that…

      Annnnnnnnd…We’re Back.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 30, 09

      No Bitchassness

I am about to blast the hell out of someone at ATLANTIC RECORDS for getting my site shut down for such a long time. Why? Because I posted the video for B.o.B.’s “Lonely People”. The cold part is is that the video was not hosted on my server…it was streaming from another site. So why was my site shutdown? I don’t know. But I am going to share with ya’ll the letter I got and if you can please send them an email telling them to go to hell, I would appreciate it!

I lost some posts because I was posting when I was randomly shut off, so will have to get them up this weekend. Thanks for sticking around with me though. I am going to boycott them because ultimately, I am small potatoes. Why shut me down? But I guess I am not small enough, so yeah. You probably won’t be seeing any B.o.B. ish here, or T.I., or whoever else. Sad, because I actually liked B.o.B. Hmph.

Guilty Pleasure of the Week: LoFat – “Walk It To The Bank” Feat. Yung LA & Rocko

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jan 29, 09

You know what, DON’T JUDGE ME. I like this song. And I just heard it LOL. And there are some lines I like like “Checked my bank account / today I had some new commas…” by Yung LA. I like him! So what. Plus, it’s Thursday, which means it’s only 2 more days left that I can feel guilty.

I won’t even talk about dude’s name being LoFat LOL. That is clearly a misnomer. Or he needs to call Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers and get a full refund because they’ve been peddling him LIES.

I’m not really a Rocko fan either, but I just enjoyed this all around. Even Soulja Boy’s newly laid-off backup dancers making an appearance LOL. You know SB got robbed, he couldn’t afford to keep paying for their shoes…they kept wearing out the soles!

OK, never mind. Just enjoy the mindless music with me today. *walking to the bank with my $.02, doing the Stanky Leg*

      Reheated Leftovers > Album Re-Releases.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 29, 09
      Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer's debut album has sold 575K copies w/ 1 single out...

It’s an epidemic that has been sweeping the music industry for the past few years, and it looks like it’s not going anywhere.

More and more artists are re-releasing their albums, simply tacking on a few usually better songs than were on the original album in the first place…this is what they call “adding value”. In this day and age of a la carte downloading, this practice seems so pointless to me.

In Jennifer’s case, I am hearing they are going to re-release her debut self-titled album. Now, this makes a little more sense since she’s been away from the scene and only had one single (“Spotlight”). Her next single “If This Isn’t Love” is about to drop with a video as well.

On the other end, you have Rihanna. Rihanna is on her third release of “Good Girl Gone Bad” — this time it’s an album full of remixes. This is too much. And I really refuse to believe that people are actually BUYING each of these versions.

So I want to hear what you all think — do you buy the whole thing all over again or not? Take our poll.

Album Re-Releases: Throwing Good Money After Bad?

From SWV to Seaweed: Taj On New “Survivor”

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 28, 09
      Taj from SWV

Taj Johnson-George from SWV (far right)

Did anyone else know Taj from SWV was going to be on the new season of “Survivor” called “Survivor: Tocantins”? Now in it’s 18th season, it comes on again on CBS on February 12th.

I mean, but don’t you have to audition or send in a tape for that?

I guess since that SWV reunion didn’t pop off like she wanted and she probably gets tired of sitting around the house with her retired football husband Eddie George, she needed a hobby. I hope she hosts a karaoke night on the island LOL!

I just think this was mad random. I ain’t watched “Survivor”, well, ever really. LOL.

Video: Jadakiss – “Letter to B.I.G.” Feat. Faith Evans

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jan 28, 09

His sweater gave my epilepsy. This video is from this song, which appeared on the “Notorious” soundtrack. It’s also gonna be on Jada’s upcoming album. I didn’t like this song, and I didn’t like “I’ll Be Missing You” from when Biggie died in the first place.

Video Review: Raphael Saadiq – “100 Yard Dash”

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jan 27, 09

“100 Yard Dash” by Raphael Saadiq from Perception on Vimeo.

One of my favorite songs from Raphael’s album has been released as a single and I am loving this video. It just all fits together, and everything flows. I think this video is great. Raphael makes such good music and I hope the video outlets give him some burn with this one. It’s much better than the first video that was released for his album.

AND ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS IS IN THE VIDEO. He’s “The Heavy” playing the tambourine LOL. Shoutouts to my boy! He’s one of Raphael’s producers/touring musicians. I just think it’s hilarious that that negro is playing the tambourine!!

So tasteful and so well done. What do ya’ll think of this video?

“Thriller” The Musical? We Ain’t Ready. No, Really. We’re Not.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 26, 09

      Michael Jackson

Instead of being the lead in the video, shoot, now Michael could play one of the monsters!!! Am I lying!?

Michael Jackson will help develop his groundbreaking “Thriller” video into a musical theater production, producers said today (Jan. 26).

The theater production will recreate the tale of the 14-minute horror film spoof based on the title song. In the video, a young couple are on a date when the boy — played by Jackson — becomes a werewolf.

“This musical will be the exclusive Michael Jackson authorized version of ‘Thriller’ and Jackson will participate in every aspect of the creative process,” said the Nederland Organization, which has acquired the rights to the musical.

“Thriller The Musical” will include songs from the 1982 album “Thriller” and its 1979 predecessor, “Off the Wall.”

The “Thriller” video, featuring dancing zombies and horror film star Vincent Price, was first aired in 1983 and became a staple of MTV. It was directed by filmmaker John Landis, who said it cost $500,000 — about 10 times the cost of the standard music video of the time.

Jackson’s spokesman, Dr. Tohme Tohme, said in the Nederland Organization statement, “The Nederlanders and Michael Jackson represent live theater and musical excellence, so let the music begin.” (Source)

Why does Michael Jackson have some doctor speaking on his behalf? Hmm. Weird.

I’m sorry though, if they cast Chris Brown or something, I am just gonna stick with my original video. There are some things that shouldn’t be remade.

And MJ didn’t even write “Thriller”…hmmm….I love MJ but…I am gonna let sleeping dogs lie LOL.

Video Review: Leona Lewis – “I Will Be”

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jan 26, 09

Ah, a new Leona Lewis song. And this is actually one of the ballads that I like from her album. divaTy can’t stand Leona though HAHA! Anyway, I’m just shocked that she’s actually like, moving around and stuff. Video has a story, who knew? Not really though.

All we know is she had a bag of money and appears to be running from a cop. Did she shoot someone? Kill them? Did she put out a hit on Simon Cowell? What is the deal? LOL and isn’t that that one dude from that CW show? So many questions!

Now you know they wouldn’t be chasing Leona though. She is too fine for that.

While this video doesn’t really move me either way, I do enjoy this song at times. At least she isn’t lighting fire to mannequins and mess LOL! We better be happy.

She is re-releasing her album and I hope they add some more uptempo joints because that album needs to kick it into a higher gear. OR HERE IS A NOVEL IDEA — let’s just record a new one! Wow. Where is my Nobel Peace Prize!?

Live Performance: Fantasia SANGS “Lady Marmalade” @ Evening of Stars

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 26, 09

Oh man, FANTASIA KILLED THIS. Stab it, beat it, left it dead and bleeding on the side of the road along with whatever that thing is she got on her head!

When Tasia Mae walked out, I was just like, “oh snap, she’s about to murder this.” And that she did. I mean, she sung circles around that. Woooooo doggie.

You may not like that gut bucket back country Gospel howling that Fantasia normally turns in *Simon* but she clearly wore a hole in this song during this occasion and this was the perfect time. Only she could have delivered such a passionate version of this song. Makes you wonder what would have happened had she been around during the time that “Moulin Rouge” came out — Mya WHO!?

I will always be a fan. Even when she looks like a Purple Cockatoo from the Tribe of Ghetopolis with that getup she had on. But it worked! After she got done, I changed the channel. No need to even bother, though I did see Wayne Brady getting his sang and dance on…he wasn’t half bad either! I think one of ya’ll were telling me I needed to listen to his album LOL.
