    • New Music: Raheem Devaughn – “Text Messages”

Written by The IPS in New Music & Reviews on Jun 19, 08

      Raheem Devaughn

      Text Messages – Raheem Devaughn

This is a somewhat exclusive LOL. One of my boys, who is a part of the Starmakers produced this, which is going to be on the re-release of Raheem’s “Love Behind The Melody”. This is the first single. Check it out, it’s hot. It features all that internet speak that we just can’t get enough of….it’s cute LOL.

Raheem’s had a minor hit on his hands with “Customer” and dude puts out good music but the sales never seem to reflect that. Hopefully this re-release will generate some more interest in his record. I’m still bumping “The Love Experience” though LOL.

IDK–not really feeling this one. I can understand why they are doing the re-release if sales are low.
People are sleeping on him though, both album are hot, and I’ve been listening to “Love Behimd The Melody” for almost 2 months straight since I bought it.

      6. June 20, 2008 1/2 of DuDad

Yea, the song is HOT! Big ups to the StarMakers for coming through with another hit! Hopefully. people will wise up to Raheem and stop sleeping on him!

Love Text Messages. STOP SLEEPING on Raheem. His music is timeless. I’m still playing all his cd’s & mixtapes(www.myspace.com\raheemdevaughn to purchase mixtapes)

      14. June 23, 2008 Sunite

I love me some Raheem DeVaughn…people tend to sleep on good music. His voice is amazing. He’s on my top 5 list of favorite male artists besides Maxwell, Dwele, D’Angelo and Musiq. I’ll listen to anything he comes out with.

      15. June 24, 2008 TASTY_ARIES_25

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG AS WELL AS ALL OF RAHEEM’S MUSIC I FEEL HE SHOULD BE BIGGER THAN HE IS RIGHT NOW BUT HIS RECORD LABEL JUST ISN’T PROMOTING HIM IN THE RIGHT WAY, BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO PLAY MY RAHEEM DEVAUGHN ALBUMS UNTIL I CAN’T PLAY THEM ANYMORE, JUST KNOW YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE A FAN IN ME AND AS LONG AS YOU PUT OUT MUSIC I WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT. FROM THE BOTTOM ( MIAMI) HOLLA @ YA GIRL.

      16. July 25, 2008 Denice

I must admit, I was sleeping on Raheem Devaughn. However, I have seen the light as the scales have fallen from my eyes. I didn’t ge4t hip until “Customer” and then when R. Kelly went and remixed it, somehow the song got a little hotter. I think he just has poor marketing from his record label. Regarding this song, it’s cute, but I’m not sure a re-release with THIS song is going to make people re-purchase it. It’s not that hot for me. Still a fan, but gotta be realistic:)

Raheem Devaughn is the truth. The Love experience is a classic for all neo-soul and music lovers. I still have his first albulm in rotation. Love Behind the melody is good as well.I love all his music!! It is a shame that a talented brother has to release a song about texting in order to appeal to the cell-phone and internet crazed generation. ( The song is cute though). Whatever happened to basment parties, barbecues and bumping the good music.Raheem keep the faith and keep making real music God will raise you up in his timing.

      20. November 16, 2008 Mahealani

I don’t appreciate the fact that I bought the “Love Behind the Melody” for the “Text Messages” song and it’s not on there! Now I find out there’s going to be a re-release of the same titled CD? Not fair and a waste of money for me.

      21. January 2, 2009 Sharmina T.

Raheem DeVaughn is underrated and Ultra Talented! He Gives a Wonderful Concert, and never misses a Beat! He is a Fan Favorite and I am still Bumping all of the Under Ground CD’s released by Raheem as well as each and every CD released since.

I will go and get “Love Behins the Melody” again, even if Text Messages weren’t part of the CD.
