    • Rodney Says Janet’s Left Def Jam…

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Sep 22, 08

I can’t afford a Janet Jackson CD, much less a Janet concert, but I am sure it was hot. Super-producer Rodney Jerkins (and one of my all-time favorites) speaks on Janet and says that she’s left Def Jam. Color me surprised wearing Andre 3000’s dance pants.

I for one am going to have to agree, because “Feedback” was the jam! I loved that song. But from the moment the video dropped, it was D.O.A. Not to say it was just the video, but I think that played a huge part. Some would say because the song was wack, but I’m sorry, I hear that joint, I dance.

Though “Discipline” wasn’t a slam-dunk through and through, it had some great songs and handled better, it definitely could have sold more records. I think Janet should just start on her own joint, minimize her costs and focus on making music that A) suits her, B) brings in NEW fans, and C) keeps old fans happy. Tall order, but hey, if Janet can’t do it, no one can. She should just skip the major labels all together, it’s 2008. I can’t believe that even at this phase, she doesn’t have more artistic control. That’s crazy, though she was coming from that failed Virgin deal, which I am sure L.A. Reid was not trying to let happen again.

And Rodney, it was them a** beatings that Papa Joe handed out that kept them dancing LOL. I love Mr. Jerkins though! Can I get an interview?!

Poor, Poor Janet! She can’t catch a break these days. LMAO at Andre’s dance pants….you are soooo wrong for that!!

Janet needs to go back to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and let them exective produce her album. I think her downfall, career wise, was Mr. Dupri.

Most times business and pleasure dont mix. Unless of course you’re Jay Z and Beyonce, but even them, i think they keep the intermingling to a minimum. A feature here and there, advice and maybe critique. But from the looks of things i see JD ALL in Janets business dealings. No bueno.

I agree with the Jimmy Jam & Terry comment. She needs to take it back to the old skool cause this new shit aint working!

I say give it one more shot and if it doens’t work well then move on. I don’t want her whack cd’s to start to equal the good ones … that’s a balance she shouldn’t want.

The lemonade stand marketing strategy strikes again.

Who is running the labels nowadays?! I mean really.

Poor Janet. It has been going downhill since “Damita Ho” hasn’t it? Even “All For You” wasn’t really good.
