There’s been rumors about R. Kelly’s trial heating back up again, but before that, oh, HE’S GOING TO PUT OUT ANOTHER ALBUM. Get those leftover Best Buy Christmas gift cards ready!! R-ruh got to pay those legal bills somehow!
Not even a year since the release of his last studio album, R. Kelly is plotting a summer release for his next project, “12 Play: Fourth Quarter.” Kelly made the announcement during his newly released remix of Mariah Carey’s hit, “Touch My Body.”
According to Jive, “12 Play” is being penciled in for a summer release. The first single from the album, “Hair Braider,” is the top debut this week at No. 59 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. A video was shot in Chicago last month by director Malcolm Jones.
“12 Play” will be the follow-up to 2007′s “Double Up,” which has sold 935,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. (Source)
I skipped the opportunity to talk about R. Kelly’s “pot ‘o gold” hairdo, because honestly, nothing Robert does anymore really surprises me.
I HATE that he’s allowed to run around free. Between him and his yet to be resolved legal issues, T.I. and his legal issues and he’s out speaking to children, Remy Ma is going down…we have GOT to do better.
That said, I hate to love R.’s music. Is it GROUNDBREAKING? Lately? No. Is it SPECTACULAR? Lately? No. You can’t steal his musical history from him though, though I wish I could seperate him from it.
The fact that he shot a video LAST MONTH for this video shows his work ethic…dude is a BEAST. If you stay making music, the label is not NOT going to put it out. They will make money bottom line. In this day and age when music leaks instantly right out the studio, all artists should have the same mentality as R. Kelly…get the music out…that’s what you’re paid to do. Keep it fresh. The time is long gone for 3 years between albums.
I just wish they’d late him make it BEHIND BARS. Do your time for your (alleged) crime or at least just get your due process! That’s all I want. Ay dios mio.

Seriously, how many times is Kelly going to rehash the ’12-Play’ concept? It’s so tired. If you ask me, ‘TP-2.com’ should have been the end of the saga. As a matter of fact, for about five years Kelly has consistently released material from his ‘Chocolate Factory’ sessions. Dontchathink?
He needs a new gimmic, quick. He’s lost about all of my respect, especially after that ill-conceived ‘Double Up’ non-sense.
